When discussing a problem to a reel tech. Let him or her know in general what makes the problem seam abnormal. The reel want cast properly. The reel makes a noise when cranking. Reel cranks hard. Drag want hold tension. these are some examples to tell your reel tech so he knows if the reel needs cleaning? Is there a part that is malfunctioning? Is the reel settings not set properly? Most reel techs are going to work the reel and know what the problem is or what the fix is. On the other hand if you want to fix the reel yourself? You first need to find a schematic of the reel. Second try to find a video of the reel in question on YouTube being taking apart and put back together. There are lot of videos of reel repair on the internet with just a search. Next have the proper tools needed to work on fishing reels. Last is some reels are more complicated than you may think and require a trained reel tech to fix. Hope this helps. Ed Bingle
